Below are links to books, movies, and places to see that we believe will enhance your life

Books

Books that we encourage you to read

The Blueprint: How the Democrats Won Colorado by Adam Schrager & Rob Witwer

Records the process by which Colorado was flipped from Republican to Democrat--a must read for anyone who wants to understand the dynamics of political change. ISBN-10: 19362180 Amazon

Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children From Nature-Deficit Disorder

by Richard Louv. Loosing our connection to nature and the land has negative effects on our children, ourselves, and our country. ISBN 10: 156512605X Amazon

The Devil and Karl Marx by Paul Kengor

If you ever wondered who and what was behind the changes in American society over the last 60 years--read this. If you are not already frightened and angry, you will be after reading this book. ISBN: 978-1-5051-1444-7 Amazon

Unmasked 2020 edited by Charles Heatherly & Kevin Lundberg

sub-titled: Colorado's Radical Left Turn and a Warning to America. Picks-up where the Blueprint (see above) leaves off. Regardless of where you stand on the political spectrum, what is revealed in this book about how politics in America can be manipulated by a relatively small group of people will cause you concern. ISBN: 978-0-578-74801-6 Amazon

Movies

Movies that are worth tracking down and watching

Expelled: No Intelligence Required (Ben Stein)

Big Science has expelled smart new ideas from the classroom. What they forgot is that every generation has its rebel. When it comes to evolution, American academics can be surprisingly close-minded as well as amazingly fanciful. This movie played to standing ovations in movie theaters all over America a few years ago. If you haven't seen it--you should. If you have seen it--it's time to watch it again. IMDB YouTube Amazon

In His Image (Dr. Michael Brown)

This is a disturbing look at transgenderism and will cause anyone--regardless of their political view of the question--discomfort. If you support the cause of the transgender then you will want to know where those who oppose it are coming from. Those who decry the transgender movement will be confronted with some truths that are uncomfortable. This is not for those whose minds are made-up on the matter. For those who truly want to understand the issue, this is the movie to watch. YouTube Amazon

2000 Mules (Dinesh D'Souza)

Major controversy warning: No one will like this movie, but everyone ought to watch it nonetheless. If even half of this is accurate, then we have a major elections problem in this country. On the other hand, just illustrating what could be done is concerning enough to want to take steps to keep it from actually happening. YouTube  Amazon

In Inconvenient Truth (Al Gore)

Yes, we recommend that you watch this--especially if you never have. Get the companion book and read it. Once you have done so you will be familiar with the major reasoning behind Global Warming. Only then should you examine the arguments against it. YouTube Amazon

Places to see in Wyoming off the main radar

The grave site of Sacajawea

Ignore the controversy over her place in history or where she is actually buried and go learn more about--and honor--this extraordinary woman. Her grave site is located on the Wind River Reservation in the Sacajawea Cemetery near Fort Washakie on South Pass Road. It is difficult to find and there are no signs pointing the way. Fortunately, a number of websites provide directions.  Directions

The Wedding of the Waters

This is where the Wind River meets the Bighorn River. Originally it was thought that they were two different rivers but after it became clear that they were one and the same, it was decided to keep both names because they were both so well known.  Located just outside the small town of Thermopolis on U.S. Highway 20 near South Yellowstone Road (Wyoming Highway 173). Directions

Site of the Fetterman Massacre & the Wagon Box Fight

Ten years before Custer's command was wiped-out at the Battle of the Little Bighorn, Capt. William J. Fetterman and his command were annihilated in similar fashion by virtually the same Indians--including the famous Crazy Horse. Too bad Custer didn't study his history, he might have kept his hair. Recent investigations of both battles are revealing that the traditional histories are probably somewhat inaccurate. These battles are less well-known than they should be. Information and directions.

Medicine Bow and the Virginian Hotel

The Virginian Hotel in Medicine Bow is a  hidden treasure. The site of the showdown in Owen Wister's famous proto-western The Virginian, it is chock-full of Wister and Virginian artifacts. Nearby is the Como Bluff Museum Building--purportedly the oldest building in America (according to Ripley's Believe it or Not). The town has a post office, a restaurant, a general store and the Virginian Hotel still takes in guests. Information.
