Movies that are worth tracking down and watching
Big Science has expelled smart new ideas from the classroom. What they forgot is that every generation has its rebel. When it comes to evolution, American academics can be surprisingly close-minded as well as amazingly fanciful. This movie played to standing ovations in movie theaters all over America a few years ago. If you haven't seen it--you should. If you have seen it--it's time to watch it again. IMDB YouTube Amazon
This is a disturbing look at transgenderism and will cause anyone--regardless of their political view of the question--discomfort. If you support the cause of the transgender then you will want to know where those who oppose it are coming from. Those who decry the transgender movement will be confronted with some truths that are uncomfortable. This is not for those whose minds are made-up on the matter. For those who truly want to understand the issue, this is the movie to watch. YouTube Amazon
Major controversy warning: No one will like this movie, but everyone ought to watch it nonetheless. If even half of this is accurate, then we have a major elections problem in this country. On the other hand, just illustrating what could be done is concerning enough to want to take steps to keep it from actually happening. YouTube Amazon
Ignore the controversy over her place in history or where she is actually buried and go learn more about--and honor--this extraordinary woman. Her grave site is located on the Wind River Reservation in the Sacajawea Cemetery near Fort Washakie on South Pass Road. It is difficult to find and there are no signs pointing the way. Fortunately, a number of websites provide directions. Directions
This is where the Wind River meets the Bighorn River. Originally it was thought that they were two different rivers but after it became clear that they were one and the same, it was decided to keep both names because they were both so well known. Located just outside the small town of Thermopolis on U.S. Highway 20 near South Yellowstone Road (Wyoming Highway 173). Directions
Ten years before Custer's command was wiped-out at the Battle of the Little Bighorn, Capt. William J. Fetterman and his command were annihilated in similar fashion by virtually the same Indians--including the famous Crazy Horse. Too bad Custer didn't study his history, he might have kept his hair. Recent investigations of both battles are revealing that the traditional histories are probably somewhat inaccurate. These battles are less well-known than they should be. Information and directions.
The Virginian Hotel in Medicine Bow is a hidden treasure. The site of the showdown in Owen Wister's famous proto-western The Virginian, it is chock-full of Wister and Virginian artifacts. The town has a post office, a restaurant, a general store and the Virginian Hotel still takes in guests. Information.
